The 2026 Club Championship took place on Saturday 6 June and, as if 36 holes of golf was not challenging enough, our members were treated to a healthy dose of rain and wind throughout the day. The conditions were tough, the fairways were wet and umbrellas were as important as putters, but that did not stop our competitors from battling it out for the Club's most prestigious titles.
Following the opening round, players headed back to the clubhouse to dry off, refuel and enjoy a well-earned Ploughman's buffet before preparing themselves for another 18 holes. Spirits remained high despite the weather, although a few competitors may have secretly hoped the buffet would be declared the final event of the day.
After the second round was completed, everyone gathered back in the clubhouse for pie, cheese and the eagerly anticipated prize giving ceremony.
After 36 gruelling holes, Ben Mole emerged as our new Scratch Club Champion with a gross score of 155, edging out Tom Jenkinson by a single shot in a closely fought contest.
In the Handicap Championship, Paul McGill produced an outstanding performance to claim the title with a net score of 137. Paul's excellent day continued as he also secured the +10 Handicap Championship, completing an impressive double.
Alongside the main championship, an 18-hole competition was held for members who preferred a shorter day. Andrew Dalton took top honours with an excellent 34 points, finishing ahead of Charles Attlee.
As if the day did not already have enough highlights, Roland Heal provided a moment to remember during the second round with a hole-in-one on the 15th hole. A feat many golfers dream of and few achieve. His reward? A bottle of Champagne and, no doubt, the right to mention it at every opportunity for the foreseeable future.
A huge congratulations to all our champions, prize winners and competitors who took on the challenge. The Club Championship remains one of the highlights of the golfing calendar and this year's event once again showcased the competitive spirit, camaraderie and resilience that make London Scottish Golf Club such a special place.
A big thanks to Adam and the Clubhouse team for taking care of everyone taking part.
We look forward to seeing who will rise to the challenge in 2027.
