This coming weekend (16 and 17 March) sees the staging of the Lee Oliver (open to those aged under 50) and the Faulkner Rose Bowl (open to those aged 50 and above). The respective reigning champions are Calum Bavin (net 68) and Andrew Dalton (net 65).
Congratulations to David Paul, who won the St David's Cup with a net 65. Gordon Hay finished second and Owen Emmington-Thomas was third (both with net 67s).
And well done to Nick Sharp, who won the recent Spencer Cup with an impressive round of net 67 in some very windy conditions. Nick was the only player in the field of 37 entrants to beat his handicap. Charlie Matthews (net 68) was second and David Paul (net 69) third.
Thank you to everyone who played in the recent Winter Open. We had over 100 entrants, which is our best turnout to date. Particular thanks to those who gave their time to help in organising and running the day - our starters (Charles Short and Chris Bunning), Peter Mason (who organises the event), Steve and Grant.
The scratch competition was won, for the second year running, by Joe Smith of Wyke Green GC, who shot an excellent gross 66. The handicap competition was won by our own Mark McGovern, with a fantastic net 62.
