Wimbledon Common Restoration

As we are approaching the 150th year since the Wimbledon and Putney Commons Act put protections in place to preserve Wimbledon Common, we would like to ask for help to recover grassland that we have lost over the last year due to unfavourable weather and a large increase in footfall. The golf course takes up less than 10% of the common and both London Scottish and Wimbledon Common Golf Club contribute almost £300,000 each year to play golf but unfortunately we weren’t able to prevent significant damage in the last year to our fairways, tees, and greens. We have an ambitious aim to raise £30,000 to restore lost grassland and purchase more course signage for golfers and other users of the common. Please donate anything you can via the link below:

Message from the Greenkeepers

A lot of work has gone into the course in preparation for the return of golf on 29th March. The next few weeks are crucial and it is important we all work together to get the course looking great. The tees, fairways and approaches have been recently seeded so please could all golfers use a tee peg in these areas and, as usual, replace all divots. This is only a temporary measure until the weather warms up soon. Thank you, it’s great to have you all back!

Member's Subscriptions

With subscriptions due on the 1st April, the committee are well aware that members have not had good value for last years subscription. We would like to thank and make a concession to members who have supported the club during this uncertain time by paying in full or on the monthly scheme. The committee have decided to give full members £200 on their bar cards and other paid members pro rata amounts on theirs. We hope this gesture is well received and can’t wait to see you all having a few (or more) well earned drinks when the bar is open!
